| Description: |
This very tastefully furnished property lies just a short walk
from Worth Matravers' picturesque local inn and village shop.
Far-reaching views over the countryside to the sea less than a
mile away can be enjoyed from the master bedroom , with glimpses
from many other rooms. One of a group of properties in a courtyard
development, it has its own patio garden - ideal for al fresco
dining. The popular seaside town of Swanage, just 3½ miles
away, enjoys a beautiful setting, with the Purbeck Hills behind
and the wide bay in front. The sandy beach offers swimming and
sailing, and the town has shops, inns, restaurants, a theatre,
swimming-pool and tennis. Boats can be hired from the pier and
deep-sea fishing trips arranged. The surrounding area boasts some
of the best beaches in Dorset, including the lovely sandy beach
at Studland (7 miles), owned by the National Trust, and some of
the warmest seas in Britain. From Studland you can take a ferry
across to Sandbanks, where the bay stretches on to Bournemouth.
Nearby Poole, with its huge natural harbor, is a paradise for
sailors, fishermen and water sports enthusiasts, and the town
offers a wide range of entertainments, as well as an Aquarium
with tropical fish and reptile house. Along the coast to the west
lies Weymouth (approximately an hour's drive), one of the earliest
seaside resorts and a port since medieval times. The harbor area
has an interesting Diving and Shipwreck Museum and Brewer's Quay
with its Discovery scientific exhibition. This is excellent walking
country, with superb inland walks through wonderful scenery, passing
by picturesque villages, or along the coastal path taking in the
boats and colorful wind surfers: a path leads from the village
to Winspit Coves (less than a mile) and on to spectacular St Alban's
Head. Corfe Castle 3½ miles. Wareham 8 miles. Riding locally.
